Study Room: This the vieo of my room that i made it pans across to show part of the cabinet and all of the desk. The reasons it is so short is that due to render issues this is all I could get done in time for the hand in due to render crashing many times. It was also supposed to have a camera that showed more of the room including the door and fire place also the cabinet was supposed to be fully seen and the video would ahve continues to show a second chair that is besode the desk.

Room Final 2
Room Final 1
Room Final 1:This is a render due show the final look of my room the character has been removed due to it overloading the scene and the textures have all had highlights added and final gather is now turned on. The wall texture was made by combineing the textures done for the books with a cross ahtch brush to a criss cross plaster wallpaper look the border usies a grain plus wind to get a scrathed plaster look. The floor was made by using the btush filters and the sponge filter and then desaturated in areas to give a worn look to parts of the carpet. The image was made by doing a still render of the colour layer and ambient layer and blending them in photo shop as render issues meant i could only get around 3 seconds of both done to be put in after effects.New Bottle Render
New Glass Render
New Glass Render: This is the new attempt of glass that i have done with help form the tutors it has replaced all the glasses in my scene. The glass was made using curve tool then revolved and converted to polygons the. Glass look is done using a shader form the inter net for silver with the transparency turned up and diffuse changed to get the glass look.Block Out Room 2
Block Out Room 2: This another angle view of the block out that I did for my room to show how things would be placed the room. The door frame is made form three different cubes stretched to size and put in place round the door. Again the character is still there due to the fact the room is based around the sound clip that I was given.Block Out Room 1
Block out Room 1: This is the block out of my room that I made to see how my room would look like when placed in my room. It is based on my fifth top down view and the wall and floor colour on my third mood board. The border is stretched out form a single cube and is there to make sure it does not look odd when the bottom half of the wall being a different colour. The character is a rig that I got off the net when I was to do a animation he is still there since the room is based around the idea i got form the sound clip I was originally given to animate to.Tuesday, 11 May 2010

Clock Complete
Clock Complete: The complete version of my clock the edges are again bevelled to round them off. The wood texture is again done the same as the wood the desk just a slightly different colour. The ring is made using various filters to create a slightly worn look to it and the face is simply the numbers and the hands a simple blinn there is a highly transparent top of a cylinder added over to create a clock cover. Pen Holder Complete
Pen Holder Complete: The complete version of my pen holder that sits on the desk as usual I have beveled the edges to get rid of the sharpness they had to them this time however I could do every edge at the same time. The texture for the wood again was done the same as the desk with a lighter colour as to stand out against it. The spheres use a basic blinn so that they have a little shine and the pens just have a few scratches so that they appear smooth but well used and the had the same time.Pen Holder Block
Book Closed Complete
Book Closed Complete: The finished version of the book that go's on the pile of books on the desk I decided to add a title to the texture since it is on the top of the pile it would look out of place with out a visible title. I again used the same filters as with the open book to create the colour and gave it a darker colour to fit in with the mood I want to create in my scene. I have made a second one that is same but with a green cover so that they stand out against each over when piled together.Book Closed Block
Book Closed Block: This the block out version my closed books that sit on the desk in my scene again it was made basic for the block out of the scene. The cover was made using two flattened down cubes which were then connected together using using a halfened pipe object which was then shrunk down to fir and thinned of to create the spine of the book. The pages were made form a flattened down split cube split in case I later wanted to add any extra shape to the object.
Book Open Complete
Book Open Complete: The complete version of my open book again with this object I had problems when it came to beveling the edges and was able to only do one at a time. For the textures I decided to add writing to pages due to the fact that even though it will not be seen clearly it would be odd for a open book not to have any visible text. The cover is made using a grain filter and the craquelure filter to try and make a leather like texture that would have been found on leather bound book.Boon Open Block
Book Open Block: This is the block out version of the open book that sits on the desk again it was made for the block out of my room. The object is made of a simple block which is split down the middle with the vertex pulled down to create the bend in the spine of the cover. The page are done the same way except with the vertex moved to create the area where the pages meet in the middle and the edge pulled into look like how a books pages look when the book is open.Cabinet Complete
Cabinet Complete: The complete version of my cabinet I used a similar colour as the desk to get the same looking wood as the desk I also used the same techniques to get the wood effect. The draws are now all made separately so that the texture again does not flow from the main body on to the draws. The handles are made form a extruded from a cube with edges added to round them off a little again the wood is done the same way as the desk the metal are made form grain effects as to get a rough old look to them as usual the edges have been beveled off to get rid of the sharpness.Cabinet Block
Cabinet Block: This is the block our version the cabinet that I did for my block out room. It was made by extruding a cube up to the right size and then the top vertex pulled back to create the sloping shape at the top. It was the extruded inwards to create the space where the smaller draws will go. All the draws were made as part of the block to save time.Saturday, 8 May 2010
Chair Complete
Chair Complete: The complete version my chair that shall sit at the desk with a smaller one in the corner as a guest chair. I used the edge loop tool to add extra geometry that I then pulled out to create the rounder arms and the rounder shape of the cushions. The legs are beveled to get rid of the sharp edges. The wood texture is done the same way the desk and the cushions are a combination of the film grain and the craquelure filter that create the slight crisscrossed look of a chair cover material.
Chair Block
Desk Complete
Desk Complete: The complete version of my desk since the block I have beveled the edges slightly to get rid of the sharpness. Also the draws are now made as separate objects in to to avoid them looking to connected by having the texture flow from the desk on to the draws. The texture was made in Photoshop using a film grain and motion blur. The inner edge round the draws would not bevel till I pulled the edges back into the desk more giving room for the bevel.Desk Block
Desk Block: The block out of my desk that I created to use in the block out of my room to show how objects will be placed. It is based on a few images of study desks that I found it was made by stretching a cube and then cut and extruded out to create the back then the other draw part pulled out. The draws are extruded form the desk to save time.
Mood Board 3
Mood Board 3: My third and final mood board that shows the colours i have decided too use I have used a dark blue on the walls to calm the room but darken it at the same time. I also used a similar colour for the book on the table so that it stands out against but at the same time does jump out too much i deiced to use dark red for the chairs so that they add a bit of colour but then will be darker too add the darker feeling to the room. The reason that i have used a lighter colour for the floor is that i think a dark colour would darken the room too much and not work against the darker wood of the desk and cabinet and the dark metal of the fire place. I coloured the lower half grey again because i think fully dark blue walls would compress the room too much and made them a light grey to open up the room a little.Mood Board 2
Mood Board 2: The second mood board I did to see what colours to use for my study room. This time I decided to try the opposite of last time and have lighter colours to see if I could create a lighter mood however I do not think this will work well as now everything appears to bright one change i have done that i think works better is too have a carpet floor rather than so that it does not blend in too much with the cabinet and desk as that was the wooden floors problem. I decided to give the books some more colour so that they would not blend into the desk but i think that the bright red book now draws to much attention also i don't think the walls and floor colours work alongside the darker colours of the wooden items and dark metal of the fire place.Mood Board 1
Mood Board 1: My first mood board done to show a possilbe colour that could use to create the kind of mood i want for my room. I have tried to use darker colours to create a more darker look and mood to this room though i think that i shall probably change it as it would come a corss to much and i feel that a wood floor would clash to much with the desk and cabent also I thing that brown books would blend to much with the desks top.Storyboard 4
Storyboard 4: The final part of my story board as he finished speaking of the thrill of keeping the journal I wanted him to turn to look at his pen with a look of deep thought to math his words and tone. If I had continued to do a animation one change i would have mad to the storyboard is to have him stroke the open book rather than close it as I could not find a pre-made book i could use or a tutor on how to make a simple closing book. The reason that i switched to a modeling project is that after talking to a tutor who asked me what part of the course that I have enjoyed the most it was suggested that when i said modeling that it would be better to do a modeling project if I thought that is what I wanted to do as a job. The study idea came form another tutor who suggested when I stuck for ideas to do a room based around the initial pose i had put into Maya just before speaking with other tutor and the kind of room I thought would match the sound clip. I choose a study since that is place I thought a upper class gentleman would work on such a thing. For ideas I looked up various study rooms to get a general idea of how there lay ed then I looked at old desks and others things to design the desk and other items that would go in the study.Storyboard 3
Storyboard 2
Storyboard 2: The second part of my unused storyboard again i tired to keep the movements small and calm to match the tone of the voice in the dialogue that I had been given. I wanted him to move a way as he spoke of the madness of keeping the journal but then begin to move in after I also thoguht that since when he mentions the madness his tone raises slighly I thought that haveing a more up pose would bwe a good idea to match it.Storyboard 1
Stortboard 1: This the first part of the storyboard that i did when my ifnal project was going to be a animation based a round the sound clip that i had benn that was of a man speaking of the madness of him keeping a journal and how that gave a thill to do so. I originally planed to have a rig of a older looking character dues to the fact that the man in the clip sounded like a older upper glass gentleman type. In the storyboard i have tried to show subtle movements that match the calm even tone of the voice clip. I would have started with him looking down due to the fact he seemed deep in thought and i weanted to be looking at the journal during the moments of deep thought in the dialouge.
